Missing something ?
I forgot to bring/wear my glasses back to office. All the day I have to sit close to the monitor and keep on zooming my word documents and broswer windows
My mid term result of Computer Networking and exam result of Applied Pattern Classification are not good -- not good enough to make me felt satisfied. In fact, I found the Applied Pattern Classification course quite interesting. I think I can learn more if I have more time. Gee... on average I got either 1 homework or 1 mid-term/exam every week these days.
And I found my current tasks at office somewhat boring. I missed the day when I programed Java and PHP. But of course, I know I will also get bored if I do too much programming. Maybe if I am backed with knowledge, and know how thing works, it would be much more interesting to implement a program -- for ONCE, ha, ha!

Irene 參 加 了 由 十 六 間 著 名 學 府 組 成 的 Universitas 21 Global 主 辦 的 網 上 MBA （ 工 商 管 理 碩 士 ） 課 程 ， 期 望 有 一 天 可 以 擔 任 決 策 者 。
我 在 投 資 銀 行 的 新 興 股 票 部 門 工 作 ， 頂 頭 有 十 個 上 司 ， 他 們 來 自 美 國 、 蘇 格 蘭 、 印度 和 巴 基 斯 坦 等 地 。 我 每 日 的 工 作 包 括 找 酒 店 預 約 場 地 、 找 律 師 審 批 文 件 、 找 銀 行家 講 進 度 ， 任 務 可 輕 可 重 ， 但 有 一 些 會 涉 及 金 額 千 萬 甚 至 億 計 ， 小 小 差 錯 ， 足 以 致命 。
我 習 慣 與 時 間 競 賽 ， 說 話 速 度 也 比 普 通 人 快 ， 但 不 等 於 經 常 可 以 令 上 司 們 感到 滿 意 。 在 最 緊 張 的 工 作 時 段 ， 上 司 惡 得 想 吃 人 ， 一 分 鐘 內 ， 或 者 有 不 同 英 語 口 音的 十 個 指 令 從 四 方 八 面 而 來 ， 我 只 可 以 本 能 地 兇 大 叫 ： 「 hold on （ 等 一 下 ） ！ 」

因 為 不 想 永 遠 都 做 金 融 界 雜 役 阿 四 ， 也 明 白 在 知 識 型 社 會 怎 樣 才 可 以 提 升 自 己的 事 業 水 平 ， 今 年 九 月 我 參 加 了 一 個 網 上 MBA （ 工 商 管 理 碩 士 ） 課 程 。 現 在 ， 我 每周 約 花 八 至 十 小 時 應 付 功 課 ， 公 餘 最 佳 節 目 是 在 家 書 房 放 好 杯 水 、 放 好 糖 果 ， 然 後 上 網 學 習 。
學 習 令 我 感 受 樂 趣 。 有 時 與 丈 夫 討 論 課 題 ， 彼 此 加 深 了 解 。 與 世 界 各 地 同 學 交流 ， 令 我 發 現 杜 拜 的 同 學 很 勤 力 ； 新 加 坡 和 馬 來 西 亞 的 同 學 說 話 愛 留 空 間 讓 別 人 思考 ； 北 京 的 同 學 很 會 發 表 意 見 。
原 來 我 的 一 位 法 裔 舊 上 司 也 修 讀 這 個 課 程 ， 我 們 由 過 去 的 上 下 級 關 係 變 成 同學 ， 他 主 動 電 郵 聯 絡 我 ， 互 相 在 網 上 平 等 交 流 ， 他 給 了 我 很 多 好 意 見 ， 還 約 了 時 間 舊 。

我 在 香 港 讀 小 學 ， 在 加 拿 大 讀 中 學 及 大 學 ， 自 小 上 課 會 發 呆 ， 有 時 會 走 堂 。 今 天 我 很 珍 惜 在 家 透 過 互 聯 網 學 習 ， 珍 惜 在 我 短 短 二 十 多 年 人 生 中 ， 緊 湊 的 經 歷 了 電 腦 新 科 技 對 學 習 、 工 作 及 生 活 帶 來 的 新 轉 變 。
我 希 望 用 三 年 時 間 完 成 網 上 MBA 課 程 ， 希 望 有 一 天 可 以 擔 任 決 策 者 。

- This is week is crazy. I tried 2 times passed the bus stopbecoz of sleeping on the traveling bus. This time, I wasted nearly 1.5 hours on road becoz of that.

- A file system which can be mounted from Linux, using the storage space provided by Gmail.

Back to school...
0) First of all, I deleted my first attempt in writing this diary by
accidentally pressing the Encoding Setting button in browse under
gmail.com. It is a disaster.
1) My school day is started. It takes place on every Monday and
Wednesday night at HKUST. I take 7 trips of various transportations in
total during school day, which should probably makes me one for most
hard working students on earth. Adding up these trips, I spend nearly
4 hours in total on transportations traveling back and forth between
home, office, and school during school day.
2) Not surprisingly, not all my of classmates are graduates of
CS/IT/IS/CPEG. Some are graduates of BBA, Physics, BioChem, etc. One
of my classmate is a fresh graduate of CS at HKOU. I think he did a
wise move as taking a MSc IT would definitely helps his career.
Talking about education, I noticed, until now, there are people who
think a good university with reputation (like HKUST, does HKUST got
this reputation?) really helps her graduates in earning more money.
This theory really surprises me as it does not making any sense!
CUHK/HKU/HKUST graduates should probably find jobs easier. But earning
more money? NO way, unless we are talking graduates from Cambridge,
MIT, etc, or graduates from a few subjects.
3) Doing the UAT work in Cyberport is quite boring indeed. And it
makes my eyeball hurt after a few hours of struggling on finding why
the numbers don't work out. I started to wonder why Daniel (my team
leader) seems handling these thing better than me? Yes, he knows the
business logic and other workmates more, and thus he can communicate
well and better than me. But I think he can simple handle more work
simultaneously, which is something I can't. I think it is my problem,
and now I am really want to fix it. I bought a book called "Leave the
office earlier" at PageOne and breaks PRODUCITIVE into 11 great
chapter (ha! I can write book reviews at amazon.):
PRODUCITIVE: Preparation, Reduction, Order, Discipline, Unease,
Concentration, Time mastery, Information management, Vitality,
Equilibrium.
It got a form corresponds to each of the above, for which you can fill
it in and you will have a score on each of these areas. And then you
can follow the book and improve yourself. I like the book, and I wish
I can be more productive after reading it.

- I can't think of a better name than this for the blog.
- I have been to Vivian's new hall tonight. I also visited her room too. It is a pretty nice place. The washroom is shared by 4 girls (2 rooms, 2 ppl shares a room), which is much better than HKUST's design (1 washroom per floor). The room is fairly large and clean. The view isn't really good, as the window is facing the inner side of the hall buildings. It should have better views, as the other side of the building should face the kowloon side and TST. I guess the window at common room can view fireworks during Chinese New Year.
- I hope I would not be too missing of her after she moved into the student hall. I... envy her room and her new live, though I already had it. Looking at the stuff in the room, we guess her new roommate should probably like her room neat and tidy... which is a good sign :)
- As for the working, we are still try hard to verify our BusinessObjects' report. It is really difficult for us, as we don't know much about business logic and the underlying table structure of DDS. Most of the time we don't know whether or not our report is correct. However, we should be the party who knows all the thing, and in fact we are in the best position as we can ask our users and our fellow vender as the same time. Time is our only enemy.
